Emergency Department Case ManagerFull-Time / Friday-Sunday (three 12 hour shifts) / Singing River Health System Hospital - Ocean Springs PositionOverview:
The ED Case Manager is responsible for coordinating ED patients' access to the appropriate level of care to a population of different race, creeds, religions and ages within the Singing River Hospital System.
He/She focuses on clinical quality and resource management resulting in defined clinical, satisfaction and financial outcomes.
Expectation is for all performed duties to be in accordance with Singing River Health System procedures and policies, accreditation organization, and governing guidance and publications for health care employees.

Education:
Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred, or Bachelor's Degree in Social Work required, Master's Degree in Social Work preferred.
License:
If a Nurse, licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse inthe State of Mississippi.
If a SocialWorker, licensed to practice as a Social Worker in the State of Mississippi.
Certification:
N/A
Experience:
Acute care experience within the previous 5 years that has relevance to the practice of Case Management Acute care experience within the previous 5 years that has relevance to the practice of Case Management.
ED clinical experience preferred.

Stands, turns,bends, stoops, lifts, climbs, and uses many physical motions in performingday-to-day activities.
Must be able to stand for extended periods and do agreat deal of walking without experiencing undue fatigue.
Potential exposureto communicable disease or radiation exists.
Work involvesbeing able to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels, withor without correction.
Must demonstrate the ability to communicate, speak,and enunciate to express/exchange ideas and detailed information in personand on the telephone.
Work requires a minimum standard of visual acuity, withor without correction, with the ability to adjust the eye to bring an objectinto sharp focus, i.
e.
shift gaze from viewing a computer monitor to formsthat are closer to compare data at close vision.
Mental Demands:
Must demonstrate keen mentalfaculties/assessment and decision making abilities.
Must demonstrate superiorcommunication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information inperson and by telephone.
Must demonstrate strong written and verbalcommunication skills.
Must possess emotional stability conducive to dealingwith high stress levels.
Must demonstrate ability to work under pressure andmeet deadlines.
Attention to detail and the abilityto multi-task in complex situations is required.
Special Demands:
Must possess superior customer serviceskills and professional etiquette.
Must possess proficient knowledge andability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other officetechnology (i.
e.
, telephone, fax, etc.
).
Must have working knowledge of MSOutlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Job requires traveling throughout theSRHS service area - with the employee providing his/her own transportation.
Must have a valid driver license.
Work requires the ability to functionindependently, adapt to workload demands, set priorities, and understand andset goals.
Must possess highly developed organizational, planning andmanagement writing skills.
Must understand the fundamentals of automated dataprocessing and gain a detailed understanding of complex computerized andnon-computerized information within designated period.
