POSITION
Summary:
Responsible for the pre-operative planning for patients who are scheduled for surgery.
All job duties will be in accordance with established Federal, State, and accreditation standards and Center policies and procedures.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience/Licenses/Certificates/Eligibility:
Current state licensure and BCLS required, ACLS/PALS preferred.
Prefer two (2) years experience as a Registered Nurse.
Eligibility:
All employees must be able to provide proof of their identity and their right to work in the United States.
Skills/Knowledge/Ability:
Participates as a team member for the planning and implementation of patient care and promotes the positive first impression of Bienville Surgery Center to our patients and/or families.
Assesses and coordinates data submitted by the provider's offices and coordinates the process of obtaining information such as history and physicals, orders, etc.
Develops a good working relationship with the provider's staff.
Initiates and completes the pre-operative call for patients scheduled for surgery and acquires a detailed medical history and performs a risk assessment for all patients.
Pre-screens for any special health history that may include:
cardiac clearance, history of heart issues, history of diabetes, and BMI discrepancies.
Communicates any issues found during the pre-admission assessment to the clinical director, administrator, anesthesiologist, and any other pertinent staff.
Exemplifies comprehension of nursing concepts and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrates knowledge of Center policies that govern patient care.
Serves as backup staff in Pre-Op/PACU as needed.
Will perform any other duties as requested by a clinical director that is within the staff member's scope of practice and ability.
Possesses organizational skills which include prioritization, planning, assessing, implementing, evaluation, teaching, and time management.
Demonstrates the ability to work effectively as a team member and the ability to act efficiently and rationally in an emergent situation.

Telephone and fax.
Standard surgery center machinery and equipment, including patient monitors.
